At Pearl Ballroom we offer a variety of dances. We now have 2 floors so we can have a private lesson and a large group class at the same time.
Contemporary Line dancing is done to choreographed dances with a repeated sequence of steps in which a group of people dance in one or more lines. We still dance in lines with the look and feel of ensemble dancing. So, you do not need a partner.
Line dancing is not just done to country music anymore; almost all genres of music are used such as: Pop, Jazz, R&B - anything that is danceable. Different dance rhythms such as: cha cha, rumba, waltz, swing and two step are used to keep it interesting.
Some basic steps along with the terminology will be introduced each week and a simple dance will be taught every week with a review of the dance taught the previous week.
Line dancing has been proven to be good for mind, body and spirit. It improves memory, physical co-ordination and balance. It has been credited with lowering the heart rate and blood pressure. It can be compared to a low impact cardio workout like a brisk walk. It also burns as much as 4 calories per minute depending on how much energy is put into it. So, 360 calories or more can be burned in one hour according to The American Council on Exercise. Anyone can learn and everyone is welcome!
Please refer to the Schedule page for class and dance dates and times.
